The CLAAS chassis.

CARGOS 700

To meet every demand.

The exclusive CLAAS chassis design is based on a modular bolted frame construction, which offers significant weight savings in comparison with conventional axle assemblies. A choice of mechanical suspension with parabolic springs or a hydraulically suspended chassis is available. Thanks to the modular design, some tandem axle models can have axle loads of 18 or 20 tonnes, or with tridem axles as much as 27 or 30 tonnes. The two largest models, the CARGOS 9600 and 760, are available only with tridem chassis.

Tyres.

Depending on the model and requirements, CARGOS can be equipped with a choice of tyre sizes to suit all operating conditions – 22.5", 26.5" or 30.5".

Smaller tyres provide a very low centre of gravity, giving maximum stability on steep hilly terrain, while large-size 26.5" or 30.5" tyres ensure optimum trailing characteristics, particularly on wet ground.

CARGOS 700

Maximum steering lock.

A steering lock of up to 15° even with the biggest tyres ensures both optimum manoeuvrability and soil protection. In addition, a patented articulation angle warning function combined with electrohydraulic forced steering protects the tractor tyres when using the maximum steering lock.

Electrohydraulic forced steering.

The axle steering angle is automatically adjusted to the speed to ensure maximum driving stability. Unique to CLAAS is the dynamic steering line adjustment which allows customers to choose between maximum tyres – and thus soil protection – or maximum manoeuvrability of the machine combination, to suit their requirements. The chosen function is controlled automatically according to the speed.

CARGOS 700

Mechanical-hydraulic forced steering.

With forced steering by mean of a hydraulic displacement system, depending on whether they are tandem or tridem, the steering axles are controlled via a single or double-acting connection on the tractor-side with 50 mm ball hitch. This facilitates precise track following on slopes and tyre-saving reversing.

CARGOS 700

Passive steering.

In TREND models with passive steering, the steering axle can be locked easily via a single-acting spool valve.
